Want to make money blogging?

When I started my blog I wanted to make money from it. I’d read countless income reports from bloggers and knew it could be done… except I had no clue how!

But now, I’ve finally started making money blogging (you can read my first income report where I earned $439 here).

This post is an introduction to those who don’t currently make money blogging, about easy ways to start making money through your blog.

Please note: I’ve said through your blog because you need your own self hosted blog to make money these ways. If you don’t have a blog yet, you can have a blog up and running within an hour, for less than £3 per month with my ultimate how to start a blog guide.)

Start making money blogging with these easy tips

There are numerous ways to make money blogging, but these are some of the easiest.

You should also know that some of these methods are passive.

Meaning you can actually make money without having to actively work for it! (This sounds like an scam that’s too good to be true, I know. But I personally have woken up to emails letting me know I have made $80 overnight).

And if you want to solely learn how you can start making passive income too, you can sign up for my free course Easy Passive Income below!

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to make money blogging, whether you’re an established blogger or just starting out. You simply sign up to an affiliate programme to promote a product you love, and write a blog post using your affiliate links. Then you make money whenever someone uses your links!

How much can you make from affiliate marketing?

Michelle’s (from making sense of cents) earned $65,000 in September 2018 from affiliate marketing alone!

And if you think affiliate marketing is for established bloggers, you’re wrong. I made my first affiliate sale with less than 20 blog posts! And less than 1,000 page views per month.

If you think it might be for you, Michelle has actually created a course showing exactly how to make money blogging through affiliate marketing. It’s not cheap, but if you’re serious about making money blogging, it is the course for bloggers new to affiliate marketing. I definitely credit my first affiliate thanks to the course!

It covers everything from the basics of affiliate marketing to the important stuff like staying legal. You can check out making sense of affiliate marketing here- I will be doing a review on it soon.

This one is often overlooked as adverts on your blog can make your blog look unprofessional if done wrong. However, it is something  that can make you a lot of money when it comes to blogging. You basically place adverts on your blog and throughout your blog posts. Then every time somebody sees or clicks on those adverts, you will make money!

Some are paid per click so you will only make money when someone clicks on them, but often you can get paid just depending on how many people see them.

This obviously means that the more blog traffic you have, the more money you can make. You therefore need to work on getting lots of traffic. For example, once you reach 25,000 sessions a month on your blog (these are slightly different to page views), you can apply for Media Vine, an advertising company. To give you an idea of their rates, Clary from OhClary.com is with Media Vine. In her August 2018 income report, she stated she had 60,000+ sessions on her blog, and made $1300+ from adverts as a result.

As you can see I currently don’t have adverts on my blog. But it is on my to-do list, just as soon as I reach 25,000 sessions per month!

The only problem with affiliate marketing is you’re working for someone else. Their product has to be good enough in order for you to make money.

You’re also working for someone else with adverts.

This is why selling your own product is such a great way to make money. You do the hard work initially, and then you get all the reward!

You can sell either physical products or digital courses/ e-books depending on your niche. Although it is a lot of work to get it set up, once it’s done you’ll be making money pretty much on autopilot.

To give you an idea of how much you can earn, Dale from Blogging Her Way created an e-book all about how to make money through Pinterest. She’s ended up making over $10,000. In a year. From one e-book!

Here’s an extract from her blog:

How to monetize your blog by selling products

The text above is actually from her page all about her new online course teaching people how they can create and sell an e-book. So I have no doubt that soon enough she will be making even more money selling a product!

And I have actually just launched my first ebook The Viral Pin Guide. And I made over 20 sales of it in 1 month! (You can read more about that in my income report here).

This is such a good way to make lots of money. People value your time and knowledge, and will be willing to pay for it.

You can offer a number of services- if you’re a photographer you can offer photo shoots, a graphic designer design packages, beauty blogger you can sell your services as a make-up artist… Regardless of your niche, you can probably sell a service if you wanted to.

If you’re not certain about what services you could offer, just start by adding a page to your blog called “services” and asking people to get in touch if they’re interested. And if you’re unsure about what to charge, just look at the rates other bloggers in your niche are offering for their services.

I had someone reach out to me on Pinterest because they wanted my services and I didn’t even have a contact page on my blog at the time! (You can read more about that in my post how I made my first £50 blogging).

To give you an idea of how much money you can earn through offering services, Anna from the She Approach has earned over $1,900 from coaching. It’s worth mentioning she’s made over $25,000 blogging too!

These are some of the best ways to make money blogging, even if you’re a beginner.

I hope this post has showed you that you can start making money today. If it has, please share it!

  1. Great share. Starting a blog has become so cheap nowadays that everyone is starting their own and trying to get out of the regular 9-5 rat race.

Thanks for sharing this great article. Keep sharing more.

    1. Thank you Marius 🙂 I agree- I think the facilities are there for people to make income outside of a regular 9-5 now, much more than previously!
